Raleigh International needs expedition medics!

Are you a doctor, nurse or paramedic looking for remote expedition medicine experience? Raleigh International needs you!
• Do you want to get out there, be part of something amazing and develop your expedition medicine skills
• Are you a Doctor, Nurse or Paramedic with at least two years post registration experience?
Raleigh International, youth and sustainable development charity, is currently recruiting medics to help lead expeditions in Tanzania, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Borneo.
The primary role of a medic on expedition is to ensure the health and safety of all volunteers. This could involve dealing with emergencies, providing medical care in remote settings and delivering basic medical training to other volunteers. In addition to medical responsibilities, you will also lead, inspire and motivate a group of young people (aged 17-24) on remote and challenging environmental, community and adventure projects.

Doctors, nurses and paramedics can apply for the role as long as you have at least two years post qualification experience. Previous expedition medicine experience is not essential, although if you have completed an expedition medicine course it is definitely a bonus! Raleigh expeditions provide the opportunity to develop professionally in gaining voluntary and expedition medicine experience in developing countries, while also developing personally. You will also gain experience of facilitating youth development, working in the charity sector and leading teams in remote and challenging environments.

Raleigh is currently recruiting medics to help lead the following expeditions:
• 13 weeks in Tanzania (8th June – 4th September)
• 8 weeks in Tanzania (8th June – 4th September)
• 13 weeks in Costa Rica & Nicaragua (17th June – 12th September)
• 13 weeks in Borneo (9th June – 5th September)

Medics are required to fundraise £950 for Raleigh International, which goes towards the cost of the expedition.

If you wish to apply, visit Raleigh’s website and complete the online application form. You will be required to attend an assessment weekend on 13th & 14th April if you are based in the UK, or a telephone interview if you live abroad.
