Occupational Health Technician

Our client is looking for a permanent occupational health technician to join their team.To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
Job purpose:
The Occupational Health Technician will:
• Act as the secondary focal point for the coordination of all health related matters and initiatives, primarily for the onshore based workforce with the requirement to cross over and provide cover for, the offshore
environment, where required, and to provide relevant reports to the Occupational Health Manager.
• Interface, as additional support to and in conjunction with, the OH Manager, between and the retained Occupational Health Service providers and the equivalent services within the non UK based business units.
• Assist with the set up and monitoring of exposures to noise, vibration, radiation, psychosocial illnesses and chemical substances etc. and assist with the draft of related Health Risk Assessments (HRA’s)
• Act as the secondary focal point for all Medics (offshore) and HSE Managers/Advisors (onshore) in COSHH related matters, including assessments, advice, training and coordination of the SYPOL CMS 7 system.
• Be familiar with and provide support, training, and advice in relation to Occupation Health surveillance equipment and software applications including spirometry & audiometry.
• Through all activities, the Occupational Health Technician will maintain and respect all the required medical confidences, which the position demands, whilst ensuring the appropriate sharing of management information for statutory and reporting purposes.

Typical background and experience required:
Must have:
• Occupational Health Technician with OH experience or UK HSE Offshore Medic course or equivalent Military qualification and experience
• Possession of or ability to gain, offshore survival certificate
• Possession of, or health status to pass, an OGUK & Norwegian medical
• Full unrestricted passport
• Experience in delivery of Occupational Health Surveillance in an industrial / military environment.
• A good working knowledge of UK HSE legislation.
• Good computer literacy skills, including on all Microsoft packages (except Access and Project).
• An understanding of the principles of monitoring and preventing Occupational exposures to substances, noise, vibration etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and by telephone, in English and at all levels within the organisation.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good report writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment & equally on own initiative.
• Self-motivated and persistent.
• Ability to understand health data.
• At least 3 years PQE (Offshore HSE Medic)
• Good written and oral communication skills for general business and technical subjects
