Medics needed for cross channel swim

Diabetes UK have six teams of swimmers taking part in our channel swim relay 2013. This event will happen at some point between 19 and 26 August 2013 (weather dependent) and will be in aid of Diabetes UK.

Diabetes UK are looking for a volunteer medic to join each team on their support boat as they swim across the English Channel from Dover to France. The medic would need to provide medical assistance for things like jellyfish stings, hypothermia, sea-sickness, etc. You would also need to provide medical assistance for more serious problems while the coastguard was called. A number of the swimmers have diabetes so experience of dealing with the condition is preferable, although not essential.

Medics will also be required to provide moral support to the swimmers as whilst a very exciting challenge, it is likely that they will all need a bit of encouragement at points!
Requirements Volunteers would need to be available from 19-26 August but would actually only be needed for around 20 hours of this. They must be able to get to Dover at short notice (less than 24 hours).
All expenses will be paid.
