Offshore Medic


Remuneration: 60000 - 72000 US Dollars/year

My client are currently looking for an Offshore Medic to join their team immediately.

The successful candidate will be required to provide first response pre-hospital emergency medical care and primary medical services to all offshore personnel working for and with the company, and assist in the administration and implementation of the company occupational health and wellness programs and ensure good health and hygiene in the offshore facilities.

Essential Job Experience:
Basic medical or nursing degree with approved offshore medic course including ALS certificate
3 years experience in similar position at an offshore facility.
Ability to independently manage medical emergencies.

Responsibilities
Provide emergency medical services to all offshore (Platforms, outlying platforms, rigs and boats) personnel (employees, contractors, visitors) including immediate treatment, stabilisation and evacuation to a medical facility for further treatment.

Provide primary care services to offshore personnel including diagnosis, basic investigations as available and treatment as required, in consultation with the clinic physician and keep appropriate records.

Assist in the implementation and administration of occupational health services offshore including hazard identification, assessment and evaluation of risk and control of effect.

Assist in administering and implementing the company’s wellness programs offshore including assessment and control of risk factors, employee assistance and counselling.

Perform phlebotomy and collect blood and body fluids as well as environmental samples and pack and dispatch onshore for analysis.

Provide medical orientation to new employees, conduct First Aid, CPR and AED Training and BBP training and perform RPE fitness testing for relevant employees and contractors.

Conduct food safety and hygiene inspection on offshore installation and boats and suggests ways to improve the same. Conduct facility inspections to evaluate site medical threats associated with such things as drinking water, living conditions, animal/insect threats and sanitary conditions and give appropriate advice.

Maintain stock and inventory of medicines and medical equipment and disposables and ensure medical equipment is maintained appropriately.

Follow up with employees and contractors reporting sick and communicate with them and their medical providers and facilitate return to work.

Maintain record of offshore medical activities and generate utilisation reports.

Salary/benefits and package
There is an excellent salary and bonus package on offer for the successful applicant. Candidates will work on a 28/28 rotation on 12 hour shifts.
