St John is looking for qualified Ambulance and Paramedic officers to join our Operations team in Christchurch. These are permanent roles working within the Christchurch area. We are looking for applications from experienced ambulance staff at all levels (EMT, ILS & ALS) that are ready to take the next step in their career.
Given the nature of the role, we are looking for individuals who are passionate and enthusiastic about St John and the service we provide. This is a busy and varied role where you will work alongside both paid and volunteer officers.
You will be:
A people person with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Confident and able to maintain focus and professionalism in difficult situations
Customer focused and thrive within a pro-active team environment
Have the academic ability and commitment to complete a formal qualification
Able to display and actively promote our core values (integrity, teamwork, professionalism, empathy).
It's also essential that you possess:
National Diploma in Ambulance Practice or Degree in Health Science - Paramedicine
A clean class 1 full driver's licence for a minimum of three years
A defensive driving certificate or evidence of a completed St John driving course
A good level of physical fitness
The legal right to work in New Zealand
The recruitment process:
Short listed applicants will be invited to attend an assessment centre to be held in September. The assessment centre will include written, physical, geography and driving assessments and an interview. This is a bulk recruitment process where successful candidates may be required to join a pool and wait for the next available start date.
