Overview
Supervises Other Country National (OCN) EMT-B’s assigned to their unit, who provide emergency medical services on base 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Sets goals, assigns tasks, delegates duties, with clear definitions of success as well as target dates. The paramedic falls under direct supervision of the Fire Chief. In the absence of the Fire Chief the paramedic is supervised by the ranking Senior Fire Officer (SFO) on-duty. Completes all tasks assigned by the lead paramedic or F&ES Management. This position may be required to live on one of the military bases for a short term as requested by the USG and in the event of an emergency.
Responsibilities

This QBOSS program is currently on contract through March 2021. Although extensions are likely this program is closing and there is a high probability the position will be eliminated in less than one year.

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Responds to emergency calls, provides advanced life support in accordance with EMS protocols, and assists other members of the department.
Maintains vehicles and equipment in a serviceable and ready condition.
Participates in continuing medical education (CME) and training activities, both as an instructor and as a student, depending on the nature and purpose of the course.
Communicates effectively in writing, verbally and over the radio or telephone.
Performs various other tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief or his designee.
Complies with all applicable rules, regulations/standard operating procedures, as directed By the Fire Chief, Program Manager and Base Commander.


Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree is preferred.
The knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential for this position are consistent with U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines.


Experience:
Must have a minimum of two years of experience working on an emergency response ambulance.
Must possess NREMT-P certification, and American Heart Association, BLS/CPR certification.
Must be in good standing with their certifying organization, and they must maintain these certifications for the duration of their employment.
The Paramedic must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working on an emergency response ambulance.
Need above average communicative skills, both written & oral, computer skills, copier/scanning experience and the ability to learn newly admitted equipment into the EMS inventory. Preferred, seasoned instructor in the EMS career field.
