This is a standing role for a Senior Medical Trainer to support the peace operations training for African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA). The Senior Specialty Trainer – Medical will be the Team Lead’s principal trainer and mentor for medical training and capacity building task order requirements. This role is a part-time training rotation role, requires travel to one of the African countries we operate in and is not an immediate hire.

Responsibilities:

Provide Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) soldier skills specialty instruction to individuals and African military units receiving training.
Instruct and supervise training in Africa for African officers and their soldiers who shall deploy to PKOs. 
The PSO Senior SME shall be a military or civilian subject matter expert in the MOS or functional area fields they are teaching.
The PSO SME (medical) shall be recognized or and certified as a medical professional in order to support task order requirements.
Required to know and/or review and incorporate U.S. Army doctrine, United Nations, and Partner nation guidance applicable to the task assigned. Training will involve classroom and field instruction in austere environments.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years U.S. or foreign military experience, including service after September 11, 2001.
Minimum certification in Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Prehospital Trauma Life Support, paramedic, or other recognized pre-hospital medical certification which demonstrates expertise in advanced tactical medicine.
Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years.
At least one deployment to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation as part of a civil affairs, engagement, Human Terrain, or other CIMIC-related team.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a trauma hospital or conducting triage operations during a military or peacekeeping operation.
Experience as a trainer to a foreign security partner, military or civilian, with directly related experience in medical capacity building.
Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
French language proficiency. [Language proficiency is defined as “limited speaking and reading proficiency”, which generally comports to a ILR rating of 2:2, DLAB rating of 2:2, or State Department rating of S-2:R-2.]
