Nurse Practitioner

Job Purpose
The Nurse Practitioner works as part of a medical team in the delivery of a health service to BAE Systems employees, dependants and eligible personnel.
Typically this role works within agreed Medical frameworks and would be involved in the delivery of care within the policies and processes. The role requires a good and broad professional knowledge and keen understanding of Nursing principles and practices, including an understanding of the impact and implications of decisions made, and of relevant UK national guidelines.
The delivery of the role will typically be through face to face clinical interactions or is delivered as an individual contributor with subject matter expertise in the medical / nursing discipline.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Nurse Practitioner is the initial point of contact, in both administrative and clinical roles for individuals accessing medical services.
Provision of a quality service including, but not limited to, Primary Health Care, 24 hour emergency service and Occupational Health screening.
Required to perform paramedic and ambulance driving role.
The Nurse Practitioner supports their team in the provision of safe, effective and efficient levels of healthcare to employees and their dependents.
The Nurse Practitioner, while practicing independently, will exercise professional judgement, making accountable decisions, applying clinical knowledge, critical analysis and synthesis to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment or referral of patients without referral via another senior nurse or doctor. Such decisions will be made in accordance with the values, principles, guidelines and protocols as used within the Medical Services KSA.
The nurse Practitioner will prescribe medications when required, following clinical assessment, in alignment with the department Patient Group Directives, approved by the Head of Medical Services.
Offer support and advice to clients referred or admitted to local secondary care providers as well as supporting the implementation of cyclical healthcare activities and provides health advice to clients as required.
The job holder will maintain effective documentation of clinical episodes of care, using the electronic medical record system in place, allowing visibility of medical records by colleagues within the medical department at different geographical locations within KSA.
The job holder will have a home base but may be required to move to other geographical locations within KSA as required by line management in support of service provision.
The job holder will also be required to participate in audit and customer satisfaction surveys at the direction of line management.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
The role will typically require a Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
The post holder must hold a current, full registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council or equivalent, or be eligible for full registration at time of appointment.
Extensive post qualification relevant Nursing experience, in a mid-size organization preferably with previous experience in Primary Care, Accident and Emergency, Paediatrics and Psychiatry.
The job holder will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working within the boundaries of their professional accountability, the role will require the individual to demonstrate an extensive range of professional skills and work across role boundaries to provide the extensive range of healthcare required to meet the needs of the BAE population.
Carrying out nursing duties and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts & principles upon which the job is based.
Knowledge can be acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on-the-job experience. The skills and knowledge level can be equivalent to a specialised level within a skilled trade, but are generally non-theoretical skills.
The job holder is required to maintain their own professional development in order to meet the requirements of revalidation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Professional development can be met by active participation in mandated Professional Development Reviews. It is expected that self-directed education alongside company provided training courses will meet development needs.
The role requires an understanding of their medical centre and how it interacts with others within the medical function.
No supervisory responsibility but the job holder is required to provide informal technical support to new team members. On the job training refers to training on the specific tasks required to perform the job effectively and the procedures to follow.
The role requires ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience.
This necessitates the ability to assess the validity and applicability of previous or similar experiences and evaluate options under circumstances that are not covered by procedures
The jobholder has a direct impact on the business through their responsibility, as part of the medical team, to provide healthcare in order to help maintain a healthy workforce available to fulfil their contracted roles as expected of them by the customer.
The jobholder must be able to exchange ideas and information effectively in a concise and logical way, and be sensitive to audience diversity.
The job holder will also require a degree of tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
