Occupational Health Officer

Job purpose and key deliverables
To assist the EHS Manager with the preparation, implementation and maintenance, at the Sacheon factory, of the Health Management Plan according to the OSHA Act in Korea and BAT best practice guidelines, to minimize the risk of general ill health and occupational illness, and to contribute to protecting the continuity of the supply of products to the market.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Prepare and perform Health Management Plan according to the OSHA Act in Korea and BAT Std.
2. Be on duty in First Aid Station (Health Service Center named by Korean Rules) at all daytime hours when work is in progress (except when on emergency calls)
3. Care for injured or sick personnel and maintain accurate records thereof.
4. Counsel employees on personal health promotion when they attend First Aid Station
5. Hold certification in first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by the issuing governmental or equivalent agency.
6. Plan and execute the hygiene activity program for all workers on site.
7. Check and maintain drugs and medical equipment.
8. Prepare and implement the physical tests for employees according to OSHA Act in Korea.
- General Physical Test - (Tech/Ops: every year, Clerk: Every other year)
- Special Physical Test - (Special hazardous worker)
- Temporary Physical Test as required
- New Employee Physical Test
- Physical Test before Working Assignment
9. Prepare and operate the Program for Industrial Illness Prevention, especially the LBP program, Noise Control, etc.
10. Prepare and conduct the Employees’ Working Environmental Measurement and keep detailed records and report on same according to the OSHA Act in Korea.
11. Prepare and maintain material safety data sheets (MSDS) for all hazardous materials at the factory according to related regulations.
12. Manage the issue of PPE and maintain records of all issues.
13. Conduct health inspections and health training according to the related the regulations.
14. Ensure that medical documentation is managed and retained according to regulations and BAT standards.
15. Assist the EHS Manager and perform his/her tasks under the direction of the EHS Manager.
16. Perform documents retention works as the Departmental Document Retention Administrator.
Essential requirements - Scientific degree in nurse sciences or equivalent professional qualifications
- Possession of a recognised national or international diploma in health care/nursing
- Sound understanding of occupational health principles and their application to the business
- Competent in computer skills and the use of the company's standard software packages
- Good knowledge of environmental and health & safety law and legal processes
- Good knowledge of all functions of the company's operations
- Effective communication skills to influence personnel at all levels in the company
- Ability to participate effectively in external medical trade association forums and to deal with public bodies and regulators when called upon to do so
- Understand and be sensitive to the natural environment and health & safety concerns and the priorities to be addressed.
