Occupational Health Nurse

Description Main duties include:
1. To administer the Company’s Occupational Health Management programme.
2. Management of the Wellness programmes, and assist in HES community relations.
3. Provision of clinical services for employees.
4. Assist in HES Policy and Procedure development.
5. Provide oversight for health and hygiene of all company facilities, both onshore and offshore.
6. Provide oversight for offshore medics.
7. Case management of acute illnesses or injuries.

Job Summary:
Provides a professionally autonomous Occupational Health Nurse Specialist service for DEL specializing in the surveillance and assessment of individuals and employee groups, to promote “Health and Wellbeing”.
Works collaboratively with other health care professionals and provides a leadership and consultancy function as required. Supervises operation of Emergency Medical Response Teams for DEL sites and associated Facilities
About the Job:
• Supervises the planning, directing and development of Occupational Health Nursing services based upon Industrial Hygiene Health and Risk Assessment, including the establishment and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
• Supervises the day to day management of the Occupational Health Clinic’s, and provides leadership on programs to promote Health and Wellbeing.
• Applies principles of epidemiology and demography in OH Nurse Specialist practice, by recognizing populations at risk, patterns of disease, and effectiveness of prevention and intervention. In addition is required to then develop processes and tools which enable OH nurses to identify and create opportunities for providing effective health education.
• Develop and implement health protection measures across the organization.
• Develops effective customer care delivery by the OHN team, (ie. develops patient-appropriate educational materials that address the language and cultural beliefs of the patient).
• To actively work as a member of the multi-professional team to provide high quality medical care consistent with DEL Corporate QHSE Objectives, Industry and National Guidelines and Best Practice.
• Supports the Corporate and Operational Management by developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures and by providing expert advice on quality standards.
• Adheres to DEL Infection Control policies including Universal Precautions and contributes to the Improvement of those policies.
• Manages professionally the reporting of adverse/critical incidents, investigation and follow up, facilitating staff participation in attending adverse incident training and regular updates as per company and Industry policies.
• Supervises OH Nurses professional and ethical behaviour. Provides informal/formal training sessions as appropriate.
• Ensures all OH Nursing Staff maintain accurate and complete electronic and manual records.
• Develops and implements clinical audit and or research projects to improve quality.
• Participates in the quality assurance of new and emerging knowledge/information.





Qualifications Educational Requirements / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing (Essential
• Post Graduate qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety and / or Public Health (Essential)
• Eligible for Registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of Qatar (Essential)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Essential)
• Basic Trauma Life Support ( Essential)
• Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (Desirable)


Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as Charge/ Chief Nurse OH or Senior Staff Nurse in an industrial care setting
• Minimum continuous 8 years Post registration experience in an Occupational Health industrial care setting
• Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in NHA and primary Care including Clinical Governance
