Overview
Aspen Medical is searching for a physician to support a remote oil and gas site in Northern Africa. This is a diverse role for a doctor, as s/he will be the functioning site physician but also the sole Aspen Ambassador at the local level. El Sherara is located in Murzuq, Libya where this position will support our client at their oil refinery. In addition, Aspen has a clinic located in Palm City, Libya as secondary support, where the candidate will spend time rotating as well.

The individual must possess ER, family practice, internal medicine or surgical credentials and be comfortable working in an under-resourced environment with minimal back up. The candidate will also have the unique opportunity and responsibility to build a comprehensive first responder community that will serve as a model for future health systems strengthening in the country.

Responsibilities
Due to the complexity of the position it is required that the representative doctor exhibit the following:
Good language skill in English even if it is not his/ her first language
The ability to cross cultural barriers
The ability to learn the basics of the local dialect/ language
Be a pro-active self-starter
Be disciplined in all aspects of duties
Follow AMI SOP’s



Qualifications
• Must be a licensed General Practitioner from an accredited medical school.
• Have considerable experience with Western (i.e. U.S., Europe, S Africa) healthcare provision
• Have at least two (2) years experience delivering healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Detailed understanding of, and experience with, tropical medicine.
