Emergency Health Coordinator , South Sudan

Reports to: Senior Health Coordinator

Description of Role

Oversee the implementation of OCV campaign in Kapoeta East with technical support from ARC’s Emergency Health coordinator and Senior Health Coordinator and in collaboration with the County Coordinators, CHD, WHO, UNICEF and other stakeholders.

Overall scope of the work:
Responsible for the implementation of OCV Campaign in Kapoeta East. This will include the pre-campaign, intra-campaign and post-campaign period.
Work very closely with other ARC teams, CHD heads, health facility heads and community leaders.
Supervise the implementation of the campaign
Ensure the implementation of OCV campaign is well coordinated with other PHC activities.
Ensure that OCV campaign reaches as many target population as possible.



Duties & Responsibilities

Program implementation and development
Manage and coordinate the efficient and effective implementation and monitoring of OCV campaign in Kapoeta East.
Work closely with CHD, WHO, UNICEF, and other stakeholders to prepare and implement the OCV micro plan.
Oversee, supervise and support staff and community groups to mobilize the community in the OCV campaign targeted areas to improve immunization coverage.
Ensure surveillance, detection and referral of Cholera cases noticed in OCV campaign targeted community.
Ensure the availability and proper use of tally sheets, registers, vaccination cards, summary reporting format and monitoring charts.
Conduct regular supportive supervision of field teams to oversee the qualities of OCV campaign participants.
Ensure timely report compilation and submission.
Establish and maintain proper documentation and filing system for project records.
Maintain database of the project activities and accomplishments
Lead advocacy and mobilizing community for OCV campaign in the targeted areas.
Carry out post campaign monitoring and evaluation.



Training
Liaise with the CHD, ARC Coordinators, WHO, and UNICEF in organizing trainings for OCV campaign team to ensure quality of services in thetargeted areas.
Communicate the schedule of trainings with Senior Health coordinator, County Coordinator, CHD, WHO and UNICEF ahead of time.
Conduct training in collaboration with CHD, WHO and UNICEF as needed.
Evaluate training using standard training evaluation tools
Provide timely, comprehensive and complete training reports to Senior Health Coordinator.
Provide appropriate written feedback for all your post training supervision findings.
Establish data base for all trainings conducted at the county level in collaboration with CHD and Senior Health Coordinator.



Others
Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor for the success of OCV campaign in the targeted locations.
Act and communicate at all times in a polite manner with respect for others to fit the image of ARC.
As ARC is working in a constantly changing humanitarian aid environment, reasonable specific duties may be requested that may not fit into the above job description, but which will help to achieve over all program’s goals and aims. Similarly while work on weekends will not normally be required, requests to do so should be regarded as falling within the 40hr working week stipulated within ARC’s national staff hand book, of which this job description forms a part.



Requirements
Health professionals i.e. Qualified Registered Nurse/ Midwife, Clinical officer with experience in implementing emergency community health projects.
Prior experience in implementing EPI including mass immunization campaigns and Community based interventions.
Experience working with County Health Department in health system strengthening will be an added advantage.
Fluent and clear English speaker with good writing skills. Good speaker of Arabic Language will be an added advantage.
Computer skills including Ms Excel / Word and Email.
Experience of working in a team.
Experience in writing clear and concise reports.

Desirable Qualifications, experience and competences


Two or more years of proven practical experience in implementing and managing EPI and Community based health and health promotion activities.
Experience in health promotion and health education materials design and development.
Strong communication skills
Organized, proactive, team player
Computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Prior experience working for an NGO is a plus
