Job Description: Candidates can be from any NATO nation but must hold a license in a European Union country.

Candidates will be provided housing at Camp Film City outside of Pristina Kosovo. This is not a family accompanies assignment. Rotation for most of the staff will be 120 days on and 30 days off.

SCOPE:

***POSITION IS LOCATED IN PRISTINA, KOSOVO***

The Orthopedic Surgeon reports to the Program Manager and is supervised clinically by the designated site medical director Surgeon’s work. This setting may require the Orthopedic Surgeon to coordinate with local hospitals to determine local capabilities, coordinate admission, monitor and arrange final disposition. In addition, this setting may require stabilization of patient and coordination of evacuation of patient to medevac center or CONUS. The Orthopedic Surgeon may have a leadership role (Site Medical Director). The Orthopedic Surgeon will provide preoperative, operative, and post-operative management of patient care. In addition, Orthopedic Surgeons may be required to assist in stabilization of patient and coordination of evacuation of patient to medevac center or CONUS. Orthopedic Surgeons provide a U.S. standard of care for our patient care/treatment model. All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.



CHSi will provide a medical clinic for the provision of Role 2 level medical care (Damage Control Resuscitation & Damage Control Surgery) in KOSOVO. The Role 2 will support a multinational population of military and civilian personnel. Providing emergency and surgical care, with telemedicine support as well as a full complement of ancillary medical services.



Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

Accredited to a recognized EU/North American standard or proven equivalent national qualification

University Degree in Medicine and Surgery;

Postgraduate specialization in Orthopedic or Trauma Surgery;

Minimum of 3 year’s post specialization experience in the practice of Orthopedic or Trauma Surgery.

Hold and maintain a current unrestricted government issued license or practicing certificate.

Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.

Position is notional, contingent upon contract award.

Certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

Must be a citizen of a NATO country and currently registered to practice within a NATO country



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze patient's medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to verify operation's necessity and to determine best procedure.

Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures, such as sedatives, diets, antibiotics, and preparation and treatment of the patient's operative area.

Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, residents and other medical staff.

Examine patient to provide information on medical condition and surgical risk.

Follow established surgical techniques during the operation.

Operate on patients to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and treat diseases, or improve or restore patients' functions.

Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioners when necessary.

Conduct research to develop and test surgical techniques that can improve operating procedures and outcomes.

Examine instruments, equipment, and operating room to ensure sterility.

Prepare case histories.

Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons.

Assists with the managing of day to day activities and prioritizing tasks

Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements

Comply with all applicable CHSi standards and guidelines

Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events

All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.

Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid, current Driver’s License.

Must have a current Passport.

Proof of proficiency in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.

Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the CHSi Medical Management System software.

Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance CHSi Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.

No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
