Job Summary


AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the Afghanistan - EAGLE contract for a Physician Assistant . Maintains clinic operations, providing medical care to ill or injured employees. Coordinates the medical evacuation of an injured or ill employee to a higher level of care, when necessary. Maintains a clinic with adequate medical supplies and medication. Determines fit for duty in accordance with the Department of Defense requirements for civilian contractors deploying with US forces. Performs “case management” ensuring company and US Department of Labor laws are followed. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; promoting wellness and health maintenance. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with protocols set in place by the Medical Director, ensuring not to provide medical care and/or advice beyond scope of practice. Ensures patient file documentation is accurate, legible and timely. Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities. Attends meetings as required to report statistical data related to clinic operations. Notifies Safety, Health and Environment Team when an employee is in need of medical evacuation. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintains Confidentiality at the highest level. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational program is required
Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) licenses, is required
5 years clinic experience is required.

Communication skills. Must be able to explain medical issues in a way that patients can understand. Must also effectively communicate with doctors and other healthcare workers to ensure that they provide the best possible patient care.


Compassion. Physician assistants will be dealing with patients who are sick or injured and may be in extreme pain or distress. They must be able to treat patients with compassion and understanding.


Detail oriented. Physician assistants should be observant and have a strong ability to focus when evaluating and treating patients.


Emotional stability. Physician assistants, particularly those working in emergency medicine, should be able to work well under pressure. They must remain calm in stressful situations in order to provide quality care.


Problem-solving skills. Physician assistants need to evaluate patients’ symptoms and administer the appropriate treatments. They must be diligent when investigating complicated medical issues so that they can determine the best course of treatment for each patient.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited educational program, is preferred.
