Medical coordinator

Tasks And Responsibilities:  
As medical coordinator, you will supervise the whole medical intervention inside Syria, led from 4 different countries (Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan). You will work under the direct responsibility of the general coordinator and will have functional link with the regional medical referent. You will ensure proper information sharing with the different members of the Syria coordination and MdM regional office based in Amman.

Your main responsibilities are:
-Ensure the implementation of the medical framework within the programs, adjusting the methodology according to access constraints
-Pilot medical assessments on geographical areas according to the population needs and the organization’s strategy
-Analyse and report on monthly basis the medical data of the program and propose adjustment whenever it is required
-Validate medical purchases, supervise the pharmacies operations and ensure the proper supply and storage of drugs
-Participate to the development and implementation of MdM’s operational & advocacy strategy in Syria
-Represent MdM towards donors, partners, stakeholders, Ministries of Health and health clusters in the 4 different countries
-Identify the needs for training/support of the medical staff and ensure the implementation of a global medical training plan
-Develop, update and validate medical standards, protocols and good practices
-Ensure the technical supervision of all MdM’s medical staff and partners’ staff
-Supervise or participate in the recruitment and training of the team
-Manage MdM’s national medical staff based in Amman and the pharmacist
-Be the technical referent for the MdM’s medical staff and for the partners’ medical staff based in Jordan, inside Syria and in Turkey
-Provide regular reporting on medical activities and participate to overall reports for donors, HQ, etc.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Status : Employee
Contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : 12 months
Starting date: June 1st, 2017
Regular field visits in the region (Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Medical doctor, nurse or midwife
Public Health Master is an asset
Experience in medical activities coordination in humanitarian context
Experience in hard negotiations with local authorities, partners and staff in complex situations
Experience in remote management and emergency response
Experience in supervision and team management
Excellent communication and diplomacy skills
Capacity to work in a volatile security context and able to apply strict security rules
Languages:
English: fluent (oral and written) is mandatory
French and Arabic is an added value
