ESO/Safety Advisor

Blackham Resources, an ASX listed mining and exploration company (ASX: BLK), has recently commenced mining and processing operations at the Matilda Gold Mine. The Company is fully funded and owns a 1.3 mtpa processing plant plus all the necessary infrastructure having developed the mine at minimal cost. The Plant feed will be from a variety of open pit and underground ore sources. JORC Resources of 63Mt at 3.2g/t for 6.4 M oz of gold will allow the company to extend the current 8-year mine life.


Reporting to the HSE Superintendent you will be responsible for the on-site first response medical requirements and the associated emergency response function of our Operations.

In addition you will have an active role in the OSH functions with attention to safety performance, auditing, inspections and general safety related tasks



The key responsibilities of this role will include:
Work closely with the ERT team to prevent and control loss due to emergency situations such as fire, hazardous chemicals and vehicle and or heavy equipment accident response.
Provide immediate 1st aid and treatment of injuries and illness of the site personnel 24 hours per day.
Refer patients to the appropriate medical support facilities and liaise with these facilities for ongoing treatment and care.
Provide support in setting up emergency response systems to meet the certification requirements for AS/NZS 4801.
Conduct inspections and audits of emergency response equipment and processes and prepare reports and close out corrective actions in a timely manner.
Work closely with the management and workforce to ensure safety awareness and controls are foremost in their minds
Conduct audits and inspections with recommendations for improvement
Be actively involved with procedure development and incident investigations
Assist with environmental and personnel hygiene monitoring programmes on surface and in underground mines


Essential skills and experience:
Cert IV Health Care (Ambulance)
Extensive safety and medic experience gained within the mining sector
Cert IV OHS
Cert IV Training and Assessment
Cert III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
Experience as an ERT Member or proven experience coordinating ERT activities
Sound knowledge of loss control processes and mine rescue techniques
Demonstrated experience in safety management systems and processes



Salary & Conditions

The role is offered on a permanent basis. Salary will be negotiated dependent on experience and in-line with market expectations. The role is offered on a 2/1 FIFO roster from Perth.
