Duties

Under the supervision of the Regional Staff Physician (RSP), the incumbent is responsible for, but is not limited to, the following assigned duties: 1. Provide nursing services.a. Responds to emergency calls of Regional Office staff and provide first aid and/or prescribed treatments including dispensing of medicines, performing electrocardiogram test, health counseling, etc; b. Assists in conducting medical examinations, as appropriate, to staff visiting the clinic such as providing initial assessment through monitoring of vital signs, measuring of blood pressure, etc; c. Administers immunization requirements of staff on travel and extend services during immunization programme activities in the Regional Office, as necessary, and update the immunization records of staff; d. Assists the RSP in carrying out procedures regarding medical clearances, medical emergencies, medical evacuation, crisis management and medical preparedness and job-related injuries/sickness, based on WHO established rules, policies and guidelines;e. Participates in the establishment, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and occupational programmes in the Region particularly in addressing work environment (safety and health hazards) and occupational health issues; f. Provides briefing to newly appointed staff in the Region and staff who will be on duty travel on the available medical facilities, medical procedures, hygiene precautions, use of medical kit, immunization needs and instructions on malaria and other travel related ailments; and g. Assists in identifying blood donors during Blood Letting Day. Act as focal person in requesting blood products, if needed, for staff and their dependents. 2. Provide administrative support to RSP and the unit. a. Assesses the importance and urgency of medical documents to be forwarded to Health and Medical Services in the Headquarters and maintains confidential files of WPRO staff; b. Monitors annual/periodic medical examination of staff and issues monthly reminder to staff for compliance; c. Coordinates the laboratory examination of staff as part of the periodic medical exam, informs staff of necessary preparations and provides assistance to medical technologist; d. Ensures validity of medical clearances and updated records in GSM ; e. Verifies medical bills for statutory medical examinations prior to approval for payment;f. Evaluates, orders and maintains an efficient inventory and stock control of medicaments, vaccines and other supplies and equipment in compliance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards; andg. Set-up appointment schedule of staff with RSP; 3. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EducationEssential: Degree in nursing with professional licensure to practice the profession.
Desirable: Training in counselling, first aid and basic life support.

ExperienceEssential: Minimum of six years of practical experience as a nurse in medical and surgical wards.
Desirable: Work experience in an international level.

SkillsKnowledge of the principles of nursing, emergency care, immunization requirements, nutrition, healthy lifetstyle and hygiene practices;Knowledge of vaccines for tropical and other infectious diseases;Ability to develop good working relationships with members of the staff at all levels;Ability to develop empathy with patients and work in harmony with persons of different nationalities, education and culture; Commitment to continuous learning;Initiative and willingness to keep abreast of new skills in the nursing field; andAbility to handle sensitive matters with tact, diplomacy and high confidentiality.

REMUNERATIONWHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PHP 616,586 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
