Medic volunteers needed in Nepal, Nicaragua and Tanzania – all expenses covered

Employer:Raleigh International
Location: Various Global

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your clinical experience in a completely different environment. Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity. We are looking for qualified and passionate doctors, nurses and paramedics to join our teams as Medics in Nepal, Nicaragua and Tanzania for up to six months.
You will be supporting our Raleigh International Citizen Service (ICS) programme. ICS is a UK government funded programme, designed to bring young people together to create long lasting change, and fight poverty in overseas and UK communities. Our Raleigh ICS programme is designed to empower youth and communities to work together to improve access to safe water and sanitation on water, sanitation and hygiene projects, and increase economic development in rural communities on livelihoods projects.

As an ICS Medic you’ll be based at Raleigh’s country headquarters and your main responsibilities will involve looking after the general health of all the volunteers on the project sites. You’ll also be responsible for supporting operational decisions relating to any medical emergencies that may occur. This is a support role so you’ll be advising the Team Leaders on the project sites who have any medical queries via radio and phone. However you will have the opportunity to visit the project sites during the placement.

To apply for this role you must have at least two years post qualification experience and medical skills that are transferable to remote static environments. You must also have effective communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in expedition medicine.

All expenses are covered (flights, vaccinations, accommodation, visas and insurance) but there is an £800 fundraising target to show your commitment to the role.

Do something different in 2017. Use your medical skills in a dramatically different setting and help to create a sustainable future.
