Medical coordinator (M/F) Turkey

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Based in Istanbul as medical coordinator you will report to the (deputy) general coordinator, and you will directly supervise the medical team. As medical coordinator you are functionally supervised by the regional medical advisor based in Amman.

As medical coordinator your responsibilities will be:


Representation and coordination You can represent the organisation towards donors, partners and other stakeholders You can represent the organization in Health clusters and NGO Health Meeting, in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon You actively prepare and participate to donor field monitoring visit, for all medical related questions You can participate to advocacy and communication operations run by the organization You can represent the organisation towards the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Family and Social Policies (assisted by translator/deputy).




Program technical supervision In close collaboration with HQ Medical Referent, you ensure the implementation of the organisation Medical Framework within the programs, adjusting the methodology according to access constraints You participate to the development of the general strategy with the Coordination team You can pilot medical assessments on geographical areas according to the population needs and the organization’s strategy You are in charge to supervise the medical aspect of the program deliveries, with a strong focus on the qualitative aspect You analyze on monthly basis the medical data of the program and propose adjustment whenever it is required You will technically validate the medical purchases (e.g. drugs, medical equipment) You will supervise the pharmacies operations quality (consumptions, orders & inventory) You will ensure the proper supply and storage of drugs, in close collaboration with the Supply Coordinator.


Technical Capacity building You develop, update and validate medical standards, protocols and good practices You adapt the training module and tools to remote management (i.e. you will not have access to some of the team members) You ensure the implementation of a global medical training plan for all staff, including the partners staff whenever it is possible You ensure the technical supervision of all medical staff working for organization and with a partner, and identify the needs for training/support You ensure the trainings are properly delivered by your team members, and you contribute to it if necessary You will hold regular Medical Unit Meeting, Medical briefing and debriefing.


Team Management You manage 2 Deputy Medical Coordinators (one Syrian Doctor and one Turkish Doctor), one MHPSS Coordinator (expatriate) and one Mission Pharmacist (Syrian) You are in charge of the technical supervision (with the help of your team) of approx. 20 medical supervisors or position assimilated (e.g. Medical Referent, Medical Team Leader, Doctors, etc. You recruit, train and supervise 1 new Turkish Deputy Medical Coordinator You ensure strict application and respect of the Internal Regulation by your related staff, support the HR Department to define/adjust rules taking into account the feedbacks of your team members When appropriate, define with your team members its action plan and deadlines for reaching goals You ensure formal feedback towards your team about any issues raised by them You conduct weekly individual meeting You are aware on the personal and professional evolution of each member of your staff, and its development within the mission: individual interviews, oral and written evaluations You ensure conflict resolution (personal and professional) within your team and inform your Line-Manager and the HR Department You propose relevant adaptation to the organisational chart of the mission and contribute to its implementation (job descriptions, etc.), in collaboration with your Line-Manager You support your staff in their management duty: coordination meetings, individual interviews, etc.


Reporting You centralize all Medical information available on the mission and consolidate a monthly report (into the proper reporting form) to be delivered to your Line-Manager & the HQ Medical Referent You participate to the monthly situation report (SITREP) by providing relevant data related to your position You participate to donor reporting by providing relevant data related to your position You provide regular reporting on your activities to your Line-Manager upon his/her solicitation (coordination meeting, bilateral meeting, etc.) You provide the Deputy General Coordinator with a Mission Report and/or Handover document at the end of your assignment.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Status : Employee
Contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : 6-12 months
Position to be filled as soon as possible for 6-12 months. Frequent travel to Antakya, Izmir, Amman.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Medical doctor preferably, nurse or midwife At least 10 years of professional experience, including 3 years in similar positions Experience in remote management and emergency response Experience in hard negotiations with local authorities, partners and staff in complex situations Capacity to work in an volatile security context and able to apply strict security rules Excellent organisational, training and coaching skills is required Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.


Languages English is mandatory (oral and written), Arabic would be a plus.
