The vision for the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) at The University of Manchester has been inspired by the need to conduct rigorous, in-depth research and analysis on the impact and outcomes of contemporary and historical crises. HCRI currently offers a range of online and face-to-face master’s programmes in Humanitarianism and Conflict Response, Disaster Management, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Global Health which are interdisciplinary and available to graduates from all disciplines.

The collaboration between HCRI and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine will accelerate the development of an international accreditation and certification process for disaster response training based on WHO standards with a focus on China and Asia. The role of the Research Associate will be: to provide research and publication capacity (programme manuals and guidelines, and international peer review journals) to support the development of a training curriculum for Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) with reference to the WHO Global EMT initiative, classification and standards; and to disseminate the findings from the project.
