Key Role:

Direct the establishment and operation of the military health system patient safety program (PSP) at a military facility, work closely with client leadership to promote a culture of safety throughout the facility, and identify, recommend, and aid in the implementation of process improvements, leading to the formulation of policies to affect safer care. Make recommendations for organizational changes, leading to safer patient care delivery. Administer and manage day-to-day PSP operations, encompassing all aspects of inpatient, ambulatory care and support functions. Collaborate closely with the chief of the medical staff (SGH), performance improvement (PI), quality management (QM), and risk management (RM) offices. Maintain responsibility for the coordination of (RCAs), proactive risk assessment (PRAs), and other patient safety initiatives brought about by the event reporting and proactive risk assessment functions of the PSP, analyze organizational-wide processes to reduce the risks of preventable medical events by conducting proactive risk assessment activities, and facilitate facility-wide implementation of healthcare team training through various DoD training venues, including train-the-trainer, train-the-staff on-site, and awareness. Conduct an annual appraisal of the adequacy of organization-wide PS activities, policies, and procedures to ensure program effectiveness.


Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

4 years of experience at a healthcare facility level or equivalent
Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analyses
Experience with performing RCA, proactive risk assessment, or performance improvement
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, Visual Basic, SQL, relational databases, and visual report design tools
Ability to obtain a security clearance
BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with the military or in an MTF preferred
-Knowledge of the methods that the MTF needs to use so that the PSPMs are in compliance with the accreditation standards of the Joint Commission (TJC) or Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) standards and scoring guidelines preferred
-BA or BS degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
