Are you a doctor, nurse or paramedic? Looking to take some time out?

We are looking for Expedition Medics to join our sustainable development programmes in Borneo, Costa Rica & Nicaragua and Nepal from June. In order for us to safely and effectively run our expeditions we need volunteer managers and medics.

Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity, we believe in the passion and energy of young people from around the world to create long lasting positive change. We work with local people, NGO's and governments to establish where our help is needed most. We monitor and evaluate all of our programmes to ensure they create positive impact, are meaningful and long-lasting.

Our programmes focus on providing safe access to water, protecting vulnerable environments and building more resilient communities, all whilst developing the skills and confidence of young people.

Expedition dates:
Borneo: 7th June - 31st July

Costa Rica & Nicaragua: 7th June - 4th September

Nepal: 13th June - 9th September (13 weeks) or 11th July - 31st August (8 weeks)

As an expedition Medic you will;
Also be required to act as a Project Manager but draw upon your medical skills when necessary
Support a group of around 12 - 14 international young volunteers ensuring they complete an effective and impactful project
React and manage any medical emergencies if necessary
Look after the general health of all volunteers
Deliver first aid training at the beginning of the expedition
Support the project sites with any medical advice if necessary from the expedition office
Encourage and motivate the young volunteers to effectively deliver the aims of the project
Inspire the volunteers to complete an impactful project
Facilitate the personal development of the group

This is an unpaid voluntary position however when you are in country we will cover;
All living expenses included during the expedition - food, accommodation, equipment
Full training and support before and during the expedition
Travel and medical insurance included
In country transport

In order to apply to become part of our medic team, you must have at least 2 years post qualification experience and medical skills that are transferable to remote static environments.
